49′ – Excellent pass to Rondon who almost ran with the ball but good defending by Peru to stop him from striking towards the goal.

46′ – Guerrero with the pass to Pizarro who heads the ball and it goes just over the bar.

Half time: A good eventful first half as Venezuela went down to 10 men but the efforts by both teams were good and constant. An energetic display of football.

42′ – A wild effort to strike by Lobaton. 

41′ – Poor defending on part of Venezuela but a bad finish by Guerrero. 

38′ – CLOSE! Venezuela’s throw in that almost got laid for Rondon by Arango.

34′ – Ballon is booked for his blatant foul on Rinkon as Ballon ran quick with the ball.

Now the game gets tougher for Venezuela as they would play the next 60 mins of the game with just 10 men.

28′ – RED CARD! Amorebieta is sent off for his foul on Guerrero. He pulled back Guerrero first and then stepped on his thigh while running forward.

27′ – A good pass by Rondon to Guerra who’s first touch is slightly heavier and good and vigilant goalkeeping by Gallese as he collects the ball coming ahead.

26′ – A slight defensive error by Venezuela as they are caught open at the back which gets Peru a corner.

24′ – A good ball in by Guerra in the centre but a good strong header from the Peru defence put it away.

21′ – Guerrero comes back on the pitch.

20′ – Guerrero is taken on the sidelines for the treatment of his slight injury on the thigh that happened during a tackle.

17′ – Good turn in the Peru defence to stop Venezuela from going ahead.

Venezuela look good and focused as they go forward and are putting good pressure on Peru.

14′ – CHANCE! A beautiful pass by Vargas to Guerra who couldn’t control the ball and misses a good chance to score.

13′ – A good pass to Guerrero who passes to Sanchez who gets tackled at the end.

12′ – Cueva is back into action now.

11′ – Cueva is taken to sideline for quick treatment as he collides and hurts his eye.

9′ – A good cross towards Vargas who looks to pass it on but good defending there by Venezuela.

6′ – CHANCE! A beautiful ball to Rondon but he kicks it right towards Gallese and he easily collects it. Should have been a goal.

3′ – Guerra takes a good curling strike but is comfortably collected by Gallese.

With this game, Peru would look to stay alive in the competition while Venezuela will want to seal its place in the quarterfinals.
