Pixar’s ‘Soul’ Sneak Peek!

Pixar has fallen to the recent trap in the film industry in the past few years by mainly focusing on sequels of their previous blockbusters such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and of course, Toy Story 4 having just been released. But this doesn’t mean their creativity has reached its peak – in that time, they’ve also released the acclaimed features Inside Out (2015) and Coco (2017).

Now fans need to prepare themselves for the latest release they’ve announced – Soul – which has been teased to be a ‘cosmic’ adventure for the silver screen. It is due to be released on June 19, 2020 after Outbound. Pixar have given us a glimpse into what the story may hold stating that it will be ‘a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions’.

The director leading this new promising venture is Up (2009) and Inside Out’s Pete Docter. Which from past experience means that this is going to be an emotional rollercoaster. It is also produced by Dana Murray who acted as the art manager for Brave (2012).

Even though the sneak peek they’ve provided is very vague, the tagline of the film can answer (or perhaps post even more) questions: “Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and interests come from? What is it that makes you… you?” Pixar films are always about journeys of self-discover and following the success of Inside Out, it could be that instead of exploring the mind, Pixar are going to give us a visual and no doubt colourful insight into our souls.
