Salma Hayek Joins Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ Cast!

The latest addition to the cast of Marvel Studios’ The Eternals is Salma Hayek (Ugly Betty). Marvel is hoping that the success of turning one of the lesser-known comic books within the series into blockbusters – such as they did with Guardians of the Galaxy – will continue with The Eternals.

The film will center around a gang of humans with superpowers bestowed to them by age old Celestials. The comics were created by Jack Kirby and the adaptation of them has Chloe Zhao leading as director with the casting in motion now. Angelina Jolie has been confirmed to many fans’ surprise as the lead female role (Sersi) alongside Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) who will be playing the male lead (Ikaris). Alongside them, Ma Dong-seok and Kumail Nanjiani have also signed up to the cast but we don’t yet know who they will be playing. There are also rumours abound that Keanu Reeves will be playing a role in the movie, too.

And now, Salma Hayek. There aren’t any confirmations of who she will play if she is cast. Despite her Oscar nomination, this will be the biggest project that Hayek will have taken on in her career but it has been reported that Marvel Studios want the cast to be diverse. Hayek was acclaimed for her performance as Frida Khalo in Frida but has also had smaller roles in films such as The Hitman’s Bodyguard and comedy series Ugly Betty. She will return for the sequel of The Hitman’s Bodyguard in 2020.
