Johnny Depp Taking Ex Wife Amber Heard to Court For ‘Defamation’!

Everyone remembers the feud between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard that went viral alongside the $50 million defamation lawsuit he held against her. Despite the fact that it’s not the actor’s only time in court, he claims that it is the one that has ‘damaged’ his otherwise successful career. He makes this assumption based on the fact that following the news becoming public, he was kicked out of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in which he played Captain Jack Sparrow – no doubt one of his most iconic roles.

The defamation lawsuit has been given a trial date of the 3rd of February next year (2020) and will take place in Virginia. The judge has allowed 12 days for case which awkwardly means it runs over to Valentine’s Day. Yikes.

What’s more, the lawyers for both Depp and Heard are meeting to debate over whether the case should go ahead at all. If it does go ahead, they are also arguing over where it should be held – Depp wants it in Virginia while Heard wants it to be held in California. Heard wants California due to the fact that the 911 calls she made following the alleged abuse in May 2016 took place in Los Angeles. Depp stated that there was only one 911 call made but Heard claims that this is perjury.

Depp is filing for defamation after he claims that the abuse claims are part of ‘an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Ms. Heard and advnace her career.’ Heard’s legal team are actively fighting to ensure that the lawsuit doesn’t go ahead as they say that Depp is ‘unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behaviour.’ It seems obvious that the video of Depp throwing glasses at Heard will be used as evidence – but when there’s two actors involved, it’s hard to tell what is reality and what is a play.

We will update when we know more.
