A massive fire caught at an oil depot in Crimea, according to the Russian-installed officials in the region. Meanwhile Ukraine’s defense minister said that the country was making its final preparations before the start of its long-awaited counteroffensive, according to media reports.
Russian forces seized Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. According to Russian state media four fuel tanks in Sevastopol had been hit by two unmanned aerial vehicles, citing Mikhail Razvozhaev, the Moscow-installed governor of Crimea.
No injuries have been reported, informed Mr. Razvozhaev and said that the explosion wouldn’t affect the overall fuel supply. “Since the volume of fuel is large, it will take time to localize the fire,” he said.
Though Ukrainian officials didn’t immediately comment on the alleged drone attack.
This came a day after Russia launched more than 20 missiles and two drones on Ukraine cities on Friday that killed at least 26 people including five children, according to Firspost news website.
Russia carried out the deadly attacks after Kiev claimed that counteroffensive preparations against Moscow’s forces were almost completed.
The new strike were targeted at a residential block in Uman in central Ukraine— where 23 people were reported dead, including four children—a young woman and her two-year-old daughter were killed in the central city of Dnipro and a 57-year-old woman in the southern region of Kherson.
As Associated Press reported, The Ukraine government said its air force “intercepted 11 cruise missiles and two unmanned aerial vehicles over Kyiv”.
The Ukrainian national police rescued 17 wounded people and three children from the rubble of nine-story residential building in central Ukraine and nine people were hospitalized, reported AP.
