Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital subsidiary of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is gearing up for an exciting new venture. According to reliable sources as cited by the PeepingMoon.com, the company is set to produce a female-led movie for Netflix, featuring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta in lead roles.

This upcoming film, directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keshwani, is said to be a relationship drama with comedic undertones. Kashyap, known for her work on the Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet starrer “Doctor G,” has been associated with Dharma Productions since before her debut feature was released in 2022. Her new project is described as a progressive story centered on the relationship between two women. The film is currently in pre-production and is slated to begin filming in September-October 2024.

The casting of Konkona Sen Sharma marks her second collaboration with Dharmatic Entertainment, following her role in “Ajeeb Daastaans.” This will also be her fifth project for Netflix, adding to her impressive portfolio that includes “Cargo,” “Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare,” “Ajeeb Daastaans,” and “Killer Soup.” For Pratibha Ranta, this project comes on the heels of her success in Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies,” and she has already signed a romantic film opposite Vikrant Massey.

This would be Dharmatic Entertainment’s seventh collaboration with Netflix India. The production company has previously delivered hits like “Guilty,” “Ajeeb Daastaans,” “Searching for Sheela,” “Meenakshi Sundareshwar,” “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives,” and “The Fame Game.”

The company also has a robust lineup of upcoming projects across various platforms. Ananya Panday’s “Call Me Bae” and Tamannaah Bhatia’s “Daring Partners” are set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, while the investigative fantasy drama “Gyaarah Gyaarah,” starring Kritika Kamra, Dhairya Karwa, and Raghav Juyal, will debut on ZEE5 on 9th August. Also, the third season of “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” will return to Netflix, and a web series adaptation of “Student of the Year” is in the works for Disney+Hotstar.
