Following an extraordinary year with three blockbuster hits at the global box office, Shah Rukh Khan is now all ready for a cation thriller film, which will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, known for his work on ‘Kahaani,’ and produced by Siddharth Anand, the director behind ‘Pathaan.’ According to reports, the production is slated to commence in three months, with the team aiming to match the grandeur and scale of previous SRK hits like ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan.’

The new film, titled ‘King’ will see Abhishek Bachchan as the antagonist opposite Khan in this large-scale entertainer, reported by the Peepingmoon.com. Although details of his role are under wraps, it’s known that Bachchan will portray a sophisticated villain in opposition to Khan’s mafia kingpin. Besides this, Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, will play a parallel lead, portraying a young woman thrust into dangerous circumstances after a transformative event.

“Abhishek is an immensely talented actor whose full potential remains untapped. His role in ‘King’ will showcase his abilities in a new light, marking his first major negative role in such a high-profile project. He was intrigued by the character’s complexity and accepted the role immediately,” a source close to the production shared.

This project would be the third collaboration between Khan and Bachchan, who previously worked together on ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ and ‘Happy New Year.’ However, ‘King’ will be their first on-screen face-off. For Abhishek, it’s his second venture with Sujoy Ghosh, following ‘Bob Biswas,’ and his first with Siddharth Anand.

Currently in pre-production, ‘King’ is expected to start filming between October and November, aiming for a release in late 2025 or early 2026. The film is being produced under Siddharth Anand’s Marflix banner in collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
