In an expansion move in India’s luxury market, French fashion giant Dior has announced Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor as its latest brand ambassador. The announcement, revealed exclusively by Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), reported that Dior’s growing focus on Indian market that continues to thrive in the luxury sector.
Kapoor, who will represent collections designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s creative director for womenswear, was described by the brand as a “multitalented personality” who “embodies the audacity, grace, and elegance of Dior style.” Dior also underscored the deep cultural ties it has maintained with India since its inception.
The actress, who is also a producer and known for her fashion choices, expressed her excitement about the collaboration, highlighting its deeper cultural significance. “It’s an honour to be part of Dior’s story as they continue to push the boundaries of creativity and elegance,” Kapoor told WWD. She further referred to the partnership as a “beautiful cultural synergy” that aligns Dior’s legacy with India’s rich artistic heritage.
Kapoor’s relationship with Dior has been prominent, with her recent appearance at the brand’s Paris show last month generating a media impact value of $2.7 million. Her new role is expected to bolster Dior’s appeal in India, introducing the brand’s luxury offerings to a wider audience and cementing her position as a global style icon.
