Christian Serratos has been cast to take on the role of the legendary icon Selena Quintanilla in Netflix’s new series, Selena: The Series.
What?
The drama series will have six one hour long episodes detailing the life of Selena Quintanilla during her coming of age. When Selena begins to see all of her dreams fall into place, she and her family will have to make some life-changing decisions in order to accomodate her new world of success in the music industry.
Who?
Christian Serratos (Twilight, The Walking Dead) will take on the title role of Selena, a woman from South Texas who has big dreams for the music industry. When she finds success, she makes history as one of the most successful Latin artists to date.
Gabriel Chavarria (The Purge, War for the Planet of the Apes) will be playing Selena’s oldest brother, A.B. Quintanilla. He is also the music producer for the band and is the one who creates the signature sound that they are remembered for.
Ricardo Chavira (Santa Clarita Diet, Desperate Housewives, Scandal) will be taking on the role of the patriarch for the Quintanilla family, Abraham Quintanilla. He encourages his children to follow their dreams and helps them to reach the big time.
Netflix and production company Campanario Entertainment are both excited to share the project with their viewers. The president of Campanario said of the series, “Selena is an inspirational figure who’s transcended generations. At Campanario, we’ve always known it was crucial for this series to find actors with the right mix of talent, charisma, and passion to honor Selena’s legacy and the story of her family. Our casting director Carla Hool and her team have found an amazing cast to depict the Quintanilla family, and we’re sure fans everywhere will be captivated yet again by Selena’s incredible life.”
