Disney Tackles Bambi Live-Action Remake

With the success of The Lion King (2019), Disney have discovered that even their live-action-but-not-really-because-it’s-still-animation remakes still rake in the cash as much (if not more than) the original creations themselves. There have been ongoing rumours as to what the Mouse House will be releasing in upcoming years but it has been confirmed that Bambi is in the works.

Many will remember the tragic story of the young deer who loses his mother to hunters and with the help of his forest friends, learns how to become at one with the forest. The story is deeply emotional and hit home to many back in 1942 but the concept of making your own way without your parents to guide you still resonates to a modern audience. It was originally nominated for three Oscars.

On board for crew are Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer for writing the script while Chris and Paul Weitz will be producing. Chris Weitz has also signed on to produce the remake of Pinocchio.

Similarly to The Lion King, the proof will be in the pudding of how they re-create that terrible scene where Bambi realises that his mother isn’t coming back. Prepare the tissues.
