The full cast of forthcoming series Cruel Intentions has been announced by the Prime Video. It would be the eight-episode series, adaptation of 1993 movie of the same name that has been in development at Amazon Freevee since 2021, reported Variety.
When Amazon Freevee picked up the movies to build a series, there was a possibility that it could shift to Prime Video, which now has been confirmed. Prime Video will exclusively premiere Cruel Intentions in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
According to Variety report, the cast includes Sarah Catherine Hook; Zac Burgess; Savannah Lee Smith; Sara Silva; Khobe Clarke; John Harlan Kim; Brooke Lena Johnson; and Sean Patrick Thomas. Claire Forlani, Nikki Crawford, Isabella Tagliati, Zeke Goodman and Jon Tenney are recurring.
Writers Phoebe Fisher and Sara have done the writing for the series adaptation in a collaborative effort through the partnership of Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and Original Film.
Within the series adaptation, the narrative of Cruel Intentions is set at an elite Washington, D.C. college. The story presents power dynamics between two step-siblings who would stop at nothing to reign supreme in the cutthroat social hierarchy. When a harrowing hazing incident jeopardizes the entire Panhellenic system at their academic institution, these relentless individuals would go extremes to safeguard their institutes power and reputation.
“From the ‘90s cult-classic film to the 18th-century novel from which it was adapted, Cruel Intentions has captivated audiences with a story that transcends time,” said Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals, unscripted, and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios.
