Tina Fey, a fan favourite and 30 Rock creator, is all set to return to the small screen with her lead role in Netflix’s comedy series ‘The Four Seasons,’ Deadline reported. The eight-episode series will be based on the 1981 feature film. The series is co-created with fellow 30 Rock alums Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield.
The Four Seasons series is written by Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield, who is an executive produce with David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond.
As per a report in Deadline, the 1981 feature film, of the same name, is about three couples who go on vacations every season. The film was written and directed by Alan Alda, produced by Martin Bregman, and starred Alda and Carol Burnett.
Apart from Alda and Burnett, the film starred Len Cariou, Sandy Dennis, Rita Moreno, Jack Weston, and Bess Armstrong.
The Four Seasons will be joining a high-profile list of upcoming Netflix comedy specials, including Mike Schur’s The Mole Agent, Liz Feldman’s No Good Deed, Lisa Kudrow’s Steve Levitan, and Mindy Kaling’s LA Lakers series.
As for Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield, their collaborative history dates back to the final season of NBC’s 30 Rock. Fey took home the 2007 Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for 30 Rock. Along with this, she also won an Emmy in the category of ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’.
Fisher also co-created Netflix hit rom-com series Never Have I Ever.
Fey has, on multiple occasions, appeared on Kimmy Schmidt, Great News, and Girls5eva. The Saturday Night Live alumna has also written, produced, and co-starred in the upcoming Mean Girls movie musical.
The production of ‘The Four Seasons’ is set to begin later this year.
