Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to play the legendary Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly in the upcoming biopic produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under their banner Luv Films, according to reports.
The film will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, who is known for films like “Udaan” and “Lootera”. The project is already gaining attention as one of the most anticipated Hindi films in development.
Both Khurrana and Motwane, recognized for their significant contributions to the film industry, are seen as a formidable combination for this ambitious sports biopic. It is believed that Ayushmann has been the producers’ top choice to play left-handed batsman Ganguly.
Sources close to the project revealed the exciting project among stakeholders, anticipating a cinematic masterpiece in the making. The official announcement of the film is expected soon.
Ayushmann Khurrana will undergo extensive cricket training in preparation for his portrayal of the cricket legend. However, the shooting timeline is yet to be disclosed but is likely to go on floors in the second half of 2024.
If reports are believed Tamil director Aishwarya Rajinikanth was considered for direction after Vikramaditya Motwane initially declined the project to focus on other projects. But later, Motwane came back on board and was enthusiastic about bringing Ganguly’s life story to the screen in a creative and inventive manner.
