Apple Original Films and Skydance are coming together, again, for a project that involves Guy Ritchie, John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, Deadline reported. For the project, named Fountain of Youth, Skydance Media will act as the studio, whereas the film will be produced for Apple by Skydance, Vinson Films and Project X Entertainment.
The movie, written by James Vanderbilt, will show two estranged siblings (Krasinski and Portman) partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. They will use their history knowledge to follow the clues for a life-changing adventure, possible immortality.
Fountain of Youth will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger. Tripp Vinson will produce through his Vinson Films as will Project X Entertainment, with Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein producing for the company.
Deadline reported that their sources said that the script “blew execs away” and has since remained a high priority for Skydance. But the right package was awaited for the project to move forward. Ritchie had his focus on the project since the spring, along with Krasinski, but the dual strike put things on pause.
Once the strikes settled, commitments were received from both, opening a door for Portman as the other lead. As per reports, the shoot is set to start in the first quarter this year.
This news comes after the tremendous success of Apple and Sydance’s The Family Plan starring Mark Wahlberg became the biggest film to premiere on Apple TV+. This partnership has a strong list of titles, including the genre-bending action film The Gorge, starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, and the recently announced action-adventure film Mayday, with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh set to star in the lead roles.
