“The Drew Barrymore Show” has been renewed for the fifth season despite being engulfed in controversies. The fourth season is on the run and the news for the 2024-25 renewal was announced with three WGA writers of the program rejecting to return and has been replaced.

In September, Drew Barrymore, the host of the talk show, announced that the show would begin production on season four without writers. “I want to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring us together or help us make sense of the human experience. I hope for a resolve for everyone as soon as possible,” she said at that time.

‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ is a first-run syndicated American talk show, which debuted on 14 September 2020.

After the SAG-AFTRA strike ended in November, Barrymore attracted A-list guests including Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant, Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman.

According to Deadline reports, “The Drew Barrymore Show” has been maintaining a solid viewership, possibly due to fans moving beyond the controversies. The show has averaged 1.1 million viewers, showing growth from October to December with a 9% increase in households and a 4% rise in total viewers.

Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures, said “The Drew Barrymore Show is firing on all cylinders this season”.

“Drew continues to catapult the show into the cultural zeitgeist with her empathetic and thoughtful interviews transporting viewers into her living room, where they feel like they are listening to a conversation between two friends that they are a part of. It’s an experience unlike any other in television. Drew is truly creating magic in daytime, and we’re thrilled to continue to bring that to our stations,” added McMahon.

The executive producers of The Drew Barrymore Show are Barrymore and Jason Kurtz, with CBS Media Ventures handling production and distribution.
