The streaming date for ‘Poacher’—an investigative drama series by ‘Delhi Crime’ creator Richie Mehta—has been announced by Prime Video after it acquired the drama.

‘Poacher’ draws its narrative from court documents and testimonials. It is a fictional narration of events that took place in the dense forests of Kerala and the urban jungle that is India’s capital Delhi.

The drama showcases the dedicated efforts of Indian Forest Service officers, NGO workers of Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), police personnel, and aware individuals who bravely delved into investigating the most extensive ivory poaching network in Indian history.

The film was shot in authentic locations in Kerala and New Delhi, to portray real-life situations. Malayalam, Hindi, and English language have been used in the series.

Mehta created, wrote, and directed the investigative tale that features Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in key roles. Mehta’s Netflix series “Delhi Crime” got her global recognition as she won an International Emmy for the drama series.

It’s the first time that QC Entertainment is producing a television series – ‘Poacher’. It is the production and finance company behind Oscar winners, Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’ and Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’.

Poacher is executive produced by QC Entertainment’s Edward H. Hamm Jr., Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick.

The initial three episodes of the eight-episode series ‘Poacher’ debuted at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The entire series will be available for streaming from 23rd February on Prime Video.

Speaking about the making of the film, Mehta said that she is thrilled to partner with Prime Video to reach worldwide audiences.

“Working with the team at QC Entertainment has been a dream come true, from a creative, logistical, and emotional standpoint, as was collaborating with our actors, crew, and the real subjects on which this series is inspired by. The team at Prime Video demonstrated from the moment they saw our blood, sweat, and tears on screen not only that they understand what we’ve put into this, but that they have the excitement and commitment to take this to the world,” she said.
