Jenny Slate has been cast opposite Michelle Williams in FX’s limited series Dying for Sex. Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock are the writers of the show, while director Leslye Headland has been chosen as the director.

Dying for Sex, based on the Wondery podcast, will follow the story of Molly (Williams), a woman who has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, and leaves her husband of 15 years only to explore her sexuality. She gets the courage and support from her best friend Nikki (Slate).

Nikki, played by Slate, is a joyful and life-affirming character. She readily agrees to be Molly’s caretaker on her journey of sexual exploration while facing imminent death.

Meriwether and Rosenstock will be the showrunners and executive produce with Headland.

Slate, who is a Saturday Night Live alumna, recently co-created, co-wrote, co-produced and voiced the titular character in A24’s Oscar-nominated film Marcel the Shell With Shoes On.

Following her completion of the project, Slate will next be seen in her new comedy special ‘Jenny Slate: Seasoned Professional’. It will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and A24. The premiere date has been set for February 23 on Prime Video.

She has also recently appeared in A24’s Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, which won the SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. She also starred in Prime Video’s ‘I Want You Back’.
