Steven Spielberg, on Tuesday, made Oscars’ history with Maestro’s Best Picture nomination. The three-time Oscar winner now has produced 13 films that were nominated for Best Picture. This is a record made by an individual producer since 1951.

The producers nominated for Maestro are Bradley Cooper, who also co-wrote, directed, and starred in the Leonard Bernstein biopic, Fred Berner, Amy Durning, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Spielberg.

Here’s a list of previously received Best Picture nominations:
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
The Color Purple (1985)
Schindler’s List (1993)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Munich (2005)
Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)
War Horse (2011)
Lincoln (2012)
Bridge of Spies (2015)
The Post (2017)
West Side Story (2021)
The Fabelmans (2022)

Interestingly enough, the only time Spielberg won was with Schindler’s List. He also won an Oscar for directing Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan.

Apart from his personal milestone, Spielberg and his producing partner, Kristie Macosko Krieger, became only the third team of producers to receive Best Picture nominations in three consecutive years.

Maestro received seven Oscar nominations in total, including Best Actor in a Leading Role (Cooper), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Carey Mulligan), Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, and Best Original Screenplay.

The 96th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 10 and will be televised live on ABC.
