Dev Patel is all set to make his directorial debut in the action-packed thriller “Monkey Man,” which is scheduled to be released through Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions in partnership with Universal. The film will hit the theaters on the 5th of April.
Originally slated for Netflix, Peele recognized the film’s cinematic potential after being captivated by Patel’s vision.
“Monkey Man” follows the journey of a man seeking vengeance against corrupt leaders responsible for his mother’s murder and the ongoing oppression of the marginalized. Drawing inspiration from the legend of Hanuman, an emblem of strength and bravery, the story is set in India.
“Monkey Man” revolves around a lone individual’s relentless pursuit of justice against the corrupt figures responsible for his mother’s murder and the ongoing oppression of the disadvantaged.
Set in India, the film draws inspiration from the legendary Hanuman, symbolizing fortitude and valor. Dev Patel takes on the role of a nameless youth scraping by in an underground fight club. Each night, donning a gorilla mask, he endures brutal beatings from better-known fighters for mere survival.
Directed by Patel from his original story and screenplay co-written with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, the film promises a gripping tale of resilience and justice.
The film cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher and Makarand Deshpande.
