In honor of the second death anniversary of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, a special program titled ‘Sangeetmay Baithak’ was organised.
Lata Mangeshkar, fondly known as the Indian nightingale, began her remarkable career at the tender age of 13 in 1942. Over the years, she lent her melodious voice to over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages, captivating audiences with her unmatched talent and versatility.
Among her countless hits, songs like “Mujhse Juda Hokar,” “Dil Deewana,” “Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara,” and “Dil To Pagal Hai” have become timeless classics, earning her a place in the hearts of music lovers for generations to come.
According to media reports, the ‘Sangeetmay Baithak’ event is set to unite notable figures from the music industry in a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer. Sanjay Tandon, Founder and CEO of the Indian Singers and Musicians Rights Association (ISAMRA), is instrumental in orchestrating this special occasion, adding a unique touch to the homage-paying event.
Mangeshkar’s contributions to Indian cinema are unparalleled, as she played a pivotal role in elevating its stature on the global stage. Her ethereal voice transcended boundaries, enchanting listeners worldwide and cementing her status as one of the greatest music icons of the country.
From three National Film Awards to four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, Mangeshkar’s mantlepiece adorned with honors speaks volumes of her unparalleled talent and dedication to her craft.
Throughout her career, the singer won many accolades including Padma Bhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, and the prestigious Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. She holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for singing the maximum number of songs in the world in 1974.
