Deadpool 3 released its explosive trailer today and it officially confirmed that Deadpool and Wolverine will be sharing the screen, with TVA agent Paradox among them, who was introduced as a new MCU character. The trailer showed Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, taken into by the TVA before rebelling against them and killing several TVA hunters. Not to everybody’s surprise, the trailer also showed a Wolverine variant, returning from the previous Deadpool movie.
Who plays Paradox?
Succession star Matthew Macfadyen plays the character of Paradox. In the trailer, he appears to be a liaison between Deadpool and the TVA. The BAFTA Award-winning Macfadyen is leaning into the guise of an Englishman for his role as Paradox.
Mr. Paradox previously appeared for a brief time as the presiding judge over She-Hulk’s trial in She-Hulk Vol 2 #3. As a TVA agent. In the comics, both Mr. Paradox and his TVA colleague Mr. Ouroboros die at the hands of the minor villain, Clockwise. However, it is yet to be ascertained how Marvel is seeking to blend its own version of Paradox as a far more central figure.
Who are the MCU’s TVA?
The Time Variance Authority first came to the limelight in Loki season 1 and has since become the prime point of the timeline shenanigans which is central to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

What is the connection between Deadpool and Paradox?
If you rewind three years and watch the trailer for Season 1 of Loki, you’ll notice striking resemblances to the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine. In both narratives, Loki and Deadpool catch the attention of the Time Variance Authority for various reasons, leading them to be assigned to Agent Mobius and Agent Paradox for resolution.
As we already know, Mobius enlists Loki’s help to overcome other Lokis, leveraging his distinctive perspective. Similarly, Agent Paradox presents Deadpool with a comparable, yet significant, choice of ascending to hero status among heroes.
Considering Agent Paradox’s desire for Deadpool to embrace heroism, there’s a hint of potential connection between them, perhaps even familial or with another character in Deadpool’s circle. Though merely speculation and theory, it could be intriguing to witness whether the dynamic between Deadpool and Agent Paradox mirrors that of Mobius and Loki.
