Ranveer Singh has been confirmed to play the character of the beloved Indian superhero Shaktiman, PeepingMoon reported on January 15. The project will be a trilogy film adaptation which will be produced by Sony Pictures India and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Ranveer not only will play the titular character of Shaktiman, but also his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar, who is a photographer at a newspaper. In this ambitious three-part project, Ranveer steps into the shoes of Mukesh Khanna, who originally played the iconic role and amassed a massive fan following. The superhero drama ran for a mammoth 450 episodes, from 1997 to 2005.

This role adds yet another feather to Ranveer’s filmography – Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Gully Boy, 83, and Lootera.

Basil Joseph will be directing the film. He is known for the 2021 Malayalam superhero Minnal Murali. The three-part movie has been given a huge budget of 300 crores for each part.

Joseph will collaborate with his Minnal Murali writers Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. popular TVF series Gullak fame Durgesh Singh will also chip in.

The script of the movie is expected to be completed by the end of the year, after which it will commence its pre-production phase. The filming is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025 and is eyeing a festive weekend release in 2026.

Before Shaktiman, Ranveer will see off the shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. He will also be seen reprising his Simmba role in an extended cameo in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
