The finalists for the 2024 BBC Audio Drama Awards have been announced, showcasing outstanding talent such as Rosamund Pike, Hiran Abeysekera, and Maxine Peake. Pike is nominated for Best Actress for her role in ‘People Who Knew Me,’ a podcast centered around a woman faking her death post-9/11.

She faces stiff competition from Maxine Peake for her portrayal in ‘The Women of Troy’ and Gabrielle Brooks in ‘Bess Loves Porgy.’

In the Best Actor category, Hiran Abeysekera is considered for his performance in ‘Dear Harry Kane,’ while other nominees include Lorn Macdonald and Tim McInerny. The finalists were selected by a panel of esteemed judges, including Gina McKee, Adrian Scarborough, and Paterson Joseph, among others.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 24th March, at London Broadcasting House, where winners will be announced across various categories. The award ceremony will also recognize recipients of the Imison and Tinniswood Awards, administered by the Society of Authors and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.

Actors Sacha Dhawan and Mark Heap are nominated for Best Supporting Performance, while the Marc Beeby Award acknowledges debut performances by Rosalind Eleazar, Jadie Rose Hobson, and Dan Parr. Comedy dramas, stand-up specials, and podcasts also feature prominently in the lineup of nominees, showcasing the breadth and depth of audio storytelling.

The BBC Audio Drama Awards serve as a platform to honor the creativity, dedication, and innovation of individuals shaping the audio drama landscape, reaffirming the medium’s enduring relevance and impact on audiences worldwide.
