Paramount Pictures isn’t wasting any time in producing high-profile biopics. With Bob Marley: One Love running in theatres, the company has found an A-list director in Ridley Scott for their upcoming project, a movie on the pop band Bee Gees. While the deal with the director isn’t done, Deadline reported that Scott is in negotiations to direct the studio’s untitled Bee Gees movie.

Paramount is distributing the film worldwide, with Amblin and Sister having the right to co-finance. While Barry Gibb is executive producing, John Logan has written the script.

A Bee Gees movie is not what Scott is known for. However, a Deadline report said that the Paramount executives were blown away after watching the early footage of Scott’s Gladiator sequel. Scott always finds his follow-up projects quickly, so the studios were quick to present Scott with the draft as soon as the director wrapped up the Gladiator sequel last month.

As for Scott, the director has a long-standing link to the legendary group going back to when he was trying to launch his directing career.

This also marks a reunion for Scott and Logan, who worked together on Gladiator and Alien: Covenant. Logan and King, meanwhile, worked together on Rango, The Aviator and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael.

The Bee Gees amassed global record sales exceeding 220 million, solidifying their status as one of the most successful bands in history. Originally delving into folk and soft rock when Barry, Robin, and Maurice commenced their musical journey in the late 1950s, their acclaim skyrocketed following their contributions to the soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever, igniting the disco craze and resulting in one of the highest-grossing albums of all time. Their remarkable efforts garnered them five Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Album of the Year accolade.
