The CW greenlights the original scripted drama ‘Sherlock & Daughter,’ featuring David Thewlis, reported Deadline.
In this mystery thriller, Thewlis portrays Sherlock Holmes, who finds himself in unfamiliar territory when he becomes mysteriously incapacitated, unable to solve a sinister case without endangering his closest allies. Blu Hunt plays the role of Amelia, a young American whose mother’s enigmatic murder leads her to suspect that her absent father might be the renowned detective himself. Despite their divergent backgrounds and outlooks, the unlikely duo must join forces to unravel a global conspiracy, unravel the mystery of Amelia’s mother’s death, and determine whether she is indeed Sherlock’s offspring. Dougray Scott takes on the role of Holmes’ arch-nemesis, Moriarty.
“The CW continues to expand its original programming lineup with quality scripted and unscripted series, based on IP that everyone knows, that encourage co-viewing across generations of fans,” said Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment.
‘Sherlock & Daughter’ hails from Starlings Television Distribution, Albion Television, and StoryFirst, with James Duff serving as showrunner and executive producer. The drama is created, written, and executive produced by Brendan Foley with Micah War Dog Wright and Shelly Goldstein joining as writers. Executive producers include Karine Martin, Chris Philip, Peter Gerwe, Dominic Barlow, Ivan Dunleavy, and Escapade Media.
