After Sony Pictures acquired Big Bold Beautiful Journey, it onboarded another of the European Film Market’s most in-demand projects, director Celine Song‘s Materialists, which is being sold by A24.
As per a Deadline report, in an eight-figure deal, Sony has taken all of international excluding Russia, China and Japan. A24 will stick to its US release.
Celine Song’s next movie, Materialists, is a rom-com and if rumors are to be believed, Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal are in talks to star.
Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler from Killer Films, along with David Hinojosa of 2AM, are the driving forces behind Past Lives. Song, who also writes and produces, will be joining the dynamic duo. They’re gearing up to begin production as soon as this spring.
To date, the plot has been kept under wraps, however, it is said that the movie deals with a professional matchmaker who gets involved with a wealthy man but still harbors feelings for the broke actor-waiter she left behind.
Past Lives producers Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler of Killer Films and 2AM’s David Hinojosa are behind the movie, which Song also scripts and produces. The team is aiming to start as early as this spring.
