FilmSharks, headquartered in Buenos Aires, has successfully distributed several of its titles showcased at EFM. These include the Spanish horror film “The Boogeyman: The Origin of the Myth” (El Hombre Del Saco) and a newly remastered 4K edition of the cult Argentinian thriller “Nine Queens,” which have been sold to various international markets.

‘The Boogeyman: The Origin of the Myth’ was sold to RUSIA/CIS (Nashe Kino) for theatrical, Cambodia and Laos (Westec), and German-speaking Europe (Busch Medien). Previous deals include Mantícora, which picked up all rights for Latin America, the U.S., and Canada. Amazon’s Prime Video has acquired Spanish SVOD rights, and Antena 3 grabbed free TVV rights.

The company also sold the Spanish-Argentine supernatural horror drama, Restless Waters, Shivering Lights from director Ángeles Hernández, to Spain (Alfa) for theatrical and Kinologistica (Russia/CIS).

FilmSharks has secured a theatrical release in France through Eurozoom for the 4K restored version of the beloved thriller “Nine Queens” (2000), featuring Ricardo Darín and Gastón Pauls. Additionally, Disney’s Star distribution, previously known as Buena Vista International, will reintroduce “Nine Queens” to cinemas across Latin America on February 22. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Classics holds the rights for North America.

“We are finding homes for top-notch concepts that distributors can theatrically market as refreshing concepts,” Deadline quoted Guido Rud of FilmSharks as saying.

FilmSharks was also at EFM with People’s Cup, a documentary feature about Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win led by Lionel Messi. The film was produced by Pablo Bossi, who is best known for titles such as Nine Queens and Son Of The Bride.
