Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, stars of ‘McFly’, are set to join the judging panel of The Voice UK for the upcoming series. The due will be sharing the chair as they take on the role of coaches and will be joined by country singer LeAnn Rimes, alongside Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am.
In a unique twist, Jones and Fletcher will jointly occupy the fourth spot on the panel, requiring both of them to agree before turning the chair for a contestant. Excited about their new roles, the duo expressed their readiness for the challenge and anticipation for what they described as an “epic” experience.
“To be making The Voice UK history as the first-ever double chair combo is going to be epic and we’re both ready for the challenge,” said Fletcher and Jones in a joint statement.
This move mirrors the approach taken by the US version of The Voice, which previously featured country duo Dan & Shay sharing a chair as coaches.
The format of the show remains consistent, with the coaches initially facing away from the contestants to focus solely on their singing abilities. When a coach is impressed and wishes to mentor a contestant, they press a button on their chair, spinning it around for face-to-face interaction.
Jones and Rimes will be stepping in to fill the shoes of former coaches Olly Murs and Anne-Marie, who departed the series last year. Notably, Jones brings extensive experience from his tenure as a coach on the spin-off series The Voice Kids, spanning six seasons.
Returning as the host of the show is Emma Willis, offering aspiring singers the opportunity to vie for a coveted record contract with EMI, along with a cash prize of £50,000 and a holiday to Universal Studios Florida. The Voice UK will return to ITV later this year.
