Radio presenter Graham Norton Saturday announced his departure from the UK’s Virgin Radio on a live show. Norton, who is known for the BBC TV chat show that hosted A-list celebrities, dropped the bombshell during his Saturday morning broadcast, saying, “It is my final weekend of shows here at Virgin Radio.”

The 60-year-old presenter joined the station in 2021 alongside Chris Evans in a shift from the BBC to commercial radio. Norton hinted at staying connected with Virgin Radio despite bidding farewell to his current hosting duties.

“I’ll still be kind of popping up on the station from time to time but my regular Saturdays and Sundays, I’m stepping away,” he said.

Confirming the news, Virgin Radio Content Director Mike Cass issued a statement to Deadline, saying, “Graham Norton has delighted Virgin Radio’s weekend listeners for the last three years. He steps back from the weekend show with our thanks and with our delight that he remains part of the wider Virgin Radio family. His are big boots to fill, and we’ll be announcing the owner of those feet in the weeks to come.”

Norton revealed that fellow Irish presenter Angela Scanlon, known for her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last year, will temporarily step into his 9:30 am to 12:30 pm slot on Virgin Radio for the next few weeks.

Scanlon, acknowledging the news, shared a “miss you already” comment on Norton’s Instagram post shared with Virgin Radio.

Amid Graham Norton’s departure from Virgin Radio, details on his next move remain undisclosed, leaving fans curious about his future endeavours.
