Sky Nature and Love Nature have greenlit “Airborne,” a visually stunning series that promises to immerse viewers in the awe-inspiring world of animals that take to the skies. Produced by Humble Bee Films, the four-part, 60-minute series will showcase the unique challenges and extraordinary freedom experienced by creatures that rely on flight for survival.

“Airborne” offers a bird’s-eye view of the animal kingdom, capturing breathtaking moments as airborne birds and animals navigate the skies, snatch in-flight meals, and soar through the most challenging environments on Earth.

From great soaring condors to leaping lemurs, from gliding squirrels to beautifully buzzing orchid bees – the series reveals unexpected and fascinating stories of animals who defy gravity and master the air around them in extraordinary ways.

Poppy Dixon, Director of Documentaries and Factual at Sky, expressed enthusiasm for the project, said, “We look to commission exceptional natural history programming that reveals a new lens on our planet. Taking to the air, we are excited to be offering our audiences a thrilling new perspective on the world around us, which we know they will love.”

Stephen Dunleavy, Executive Producer at Humble Bee Films, expressed delight at the opportunity to produce an immersive natural history series, said, “For many animals, the ability to defy gravity and launch into the air is crucial to their survival, and our specialist camera teams will take the viewer right alongside as we go Airborne.”

“Airborne” will explore various aspects of flight across its episodes, including the techniques animals use to catch air, gather food mid-flight, find mates, and navigate through crowded skies. With each episode offering a different perspective on the wonders of flight, viewers can expect a captivating journey into the natural world.

The series, executive produced by Charlotte Crosse and Stephen Dunleavy at Humble Bee Films, will premiere on Sky Nature in the UK and Ireland, Italy, and Germany, and on Love Nature channels worldwide. Leveraging Love Nature’s partnership with Blue Ant Studios’ international rights group, “Airborne” will also be available for pre-sales and licensing opportunities globally.
