Japanese television is gearing up for the upcoming debut of the live-action series “Glass Heart” in 2025. Adapted from Wakagi Mio’s bestselling novel of the same name, this timeless tale promises to serve a harmonic blend of emotion and music, captivating audiences with its heartfelt narrative.
Set against the backdrop of the music scene, “Glass Heart” follows the journey of Akane Saijo, a college student and aspiring drummer, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she is ousted from her band. However, fate intervenes when the talented musician Naoki Fujitani discovers her potential and extends an invitation to join his new ensemble.
The series boasts a stellar cast led by Takeru Satoh, known for his roles in “First Love” and “An Incurable Case of Love,” who not only portrays the enigmatic musical genius Naoki Fujitani but also serves as co-executive producer. Rising star Yu Miyazaki shines as the determined drummer Akane Saijo, securing the role through auditions.
Joining them are Keita Machida as the diligent guitarist Sho Takaoka, Jun Shison as the introspective pianist Kazushi Sakamoto, and Masaki Suda as the charismatic vocalist Toya Shinzaki.
Directed by renowned filmmakers Kensaku Kakimoto and Kotaro Goto, the screenplay is being crafted by acclaimed writer Mari Okada alongside a talented team of emerging female scriptwriters. The series features massive filming scales, including scenes with tens of thousands of extras for music performances, and the actors underwent intensive training to authentically master their instruments.
