NFL superstar Tom Brady is not just getting older, but he is getting faster. The 46-year-old athlete set out to overshadow his 2000 NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash time, and guess what? He smashed it. In a video posted on his social media account for NoBull, the seven-time Super bowl winning star revealed that he ran a 5.28-second dash in his NFL Combine workout many years ago. Contrast that with the time run this year by 6’3, 254-pound Penn State lineman Chop Robinson, who ran a 4.48 40 on the first day of the combine. Brady’s reputation wasn’t built on speed as he crafted one of the most illustrious careers in NFL history. Yet, he believed he could surpass his past performance. Hence, he shared on his X account the challenge he embraced. “This is not the true measure of a man, let me just that straight” Brady said on video as he drove to his workout. But, he added, “I will give you 100 percent chance of effort.” he later added before the run. Brady pulled off the challenge, running a 5.18 on one stopwatch and a 5.12 on another. Sub 5.00 next year. Level up. @nobull https://t.co/2C6f4WVbxP— Tom Brady (@TomBrady) February 29, 2024 “24 years later, redemption is spelled T O M,” he wrote on X. In a subsequent post, Brady set a lofty goal for himself for his next time out. “Sub 5.00 next year. Level up,” he wrote on X. Apart from a brief cameo, the retired quarterback spent the entirety of the 2023 season on the sidelines, marking his first prolonged absence in decades. However, while skipping one season could lead to missing subsequent ones, No. 12 is set to make weekly appearances in the broadcast booth. The ex-New England Patriots quarterback is anticipated to make his debut as a commentator for FOX in 2024, fulfilling a commitment he made to the media company back in 2022. The commentary deal is spread across a decade and is worth $375 million. Averaging $37.5 million annually, the former quarterback’s salary with FOX surpasses what he earned under Bill Belichick. Brady’s joining FOX positions him to potentially replace Greg Olsen as the A-team color commentator, partnering with Kevin Burkhardt. Burkhardt has become a seasoned figure in the role after Joe Buck and Troy Aikman’s departure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
