Kashmir hosted the first-ever Formula 4 car racing show on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar on Sunday. The event was aimed at promoting motorsports in Kashmir.
Appreciating the initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India offers great opportunities for motorsports to thrive and Srinagar is right on top of the places where it can happen.
From motorsports enthusiasts to residents enjoyed the thrilling display of car racing in the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and Dal Lake.
The racing track was stretched from Lalit Ghat to Nehru Park, covering 1.7 km, where Formula 4 racing cars performed stunts and ran a demo race.
The Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India, which is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) organized the maiden motorsport event in Kasmir.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri referred to the event as one of the major achievements and said that such initiatives would bolster Kashmir’s image, boost tourism, and stimulate the local economy.
This significant event not only underscored the potential of Kashmir as a venue for international sports but also signaled progress in showcasing the region’s modern capabilities.
