The 2024 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) will be held on December 8 at the Roundhouse in Camden. The upcoming ceremony will signify the BIFAs’ return to the prestigious London venue, marking their first appearance there since 2007.
“We’re delighted to be returning to Roundhouse this year. The opportunity to work with our production partners and the brilliant team at the venue to do something different and really special in the space is incredibly exciting for us, and we hope for the industry we celebrate too,” Deadline quoted BIFA directors Amy Gustin and Deena Wallace as saying.
For the past 14 years, the BIFAs have been held at Old Billingsgate in the City of London. The last time the awards ceremony took place in Camden, it was hosted by James Nesbitt; Judi Dench, Daniel Craig, Ray Winstone, Jamie Bell, Sam Riley, Carey Mulligan, and Tilda Swinton were present at the ceremony.
Among the film winners that night were “Control,” “Notes on a Scandal,” “Eastern Promises,” “Sunshine,” and “The Lives of Others.”
Gustin and Wallace added: “It’s an especially fitting partnership as a key focus for both the Roundhouse and BIFA is nurturing, supporting, and platforming young creatives and emerging talent in the UK. Our move to the Roundhouse is one of a number of positive steps we’re taking towards raising the public profile of BIFA, which we hope will help renew support for our mission to champion British independent film and talent through our annual awards and year-round initiatives, and safeguard BIFA for the future.”
