In a recent interview with Times, actress Patralekhaa reflected on her decade-long journey in Bollywood, acknowledging the challenges she faced and expressing her excitement for the future. Known for her breakout role opposite her now-husband Rajkummar Rao in Hansal Mehta’s 2014 film “CityLights,” Patralekhaa has garnered praise and love from audiences. As she celebrates ten years in the industry, she feels her career is just beginning.
“It has taken me 10 years to become a fully working actor, not just working four or five days a year and then sitting, waiting, and praying for more work,” Patralekhaa shared. She is thrilled about her current career phase, where she can take on a wide range of roles. Her upcoming projects include a comedy starring Varun Sharma and the series “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack,” featuring Pratik Gandhi and Vijay Varma.
In the interview, Patralekhaa discussed the shift in opportunities brought by the rise of OTT platforms. “In the traditional medium, I had filmmakers telling me that I was a good actor, but they didn’t know where to place me,” she explained. The advent of OTT gave her more chances to perform, which eventually led to more film offers. “I’ve been the busiest since I got married in November 2021. I feel like I should have gotten married earlier,” she laughed.
Reflecting on her journey, Patralekhaa noted, “Ten years is a very long time. I was new to Mumbai, and my friends and family did not come from the film industry.” Despite the ups and downs, she remains grateful for her experiences. “I have made some amazing friends here. I found my husband in this industry and city. This industry has given me a lot. It has been a mix of failure and success. I am really content. Failure doesn’t bog me down; it has taught me patience and perseverance and pushed me to keep working hard,” she concluded.
Patralekhaa’s story is one of resilience and growth, marking a significant milestone in her career with a bright future ahead.
