The iconic 2000 film “Dhadkan,” known for its gripping love triangle featuring Suniel Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, and Akshay Kumar, remains a beloved classic in Indian cinema. Now, fans have eagerly awaited news about its much-anticipated sequel.
According to reports, in “Dhadkan 2,” audiences can look forward to a fresh story with modern elements and contemporary storytelling, offering a fresh perspective on the successful original. Dharmesh Darshan, who directed the first installment, will now step into the role of producer for the sequel.
Shashank Khaitan, known for directing hits like “Dhadak,” “Govinda Naam Mera,” and “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania,” is expected to take on the director’s role for this highly awaited project. Khaitan’s expertise in romantic dramas makes him well-suited to helm “Dhadkan 2.”
The sequel will feature a new cast to bring new energy and dynamism to the franchise.
Dharmesh Darshan has hinted that while “Dhadkan 2” may not directly follow the storyline of its predecessor, it will present a contemporary narrative under his reinvented vision. He stated, “Dhadkan 2 might embody an absolutely fresh take on modern cinema by a newly reinvented Dharmesh Sheela Darshan.”
Reflecting on the original casting process, Darshan recalled the challenges he faced in securing the cast for “Dhadkan.” Despite resistance from established stars, he chose to elevate promising talents like Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, and Suniel Shetty, recognizing their potential during turbulent career phases.
The original film was inspired by Emily Brontë’s novel Wuthering Heights. The film received widespread acclaim for its direction, soundtrack, and performances, becoming a commercial success with a worldwide gross of Rs 26 crore. It was the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, and Darshan earned a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
