Lionsgate is expanding the John Wick universe with a new action series titled “John Wick: Under The High Table,” according to Deadline exclusive report. The series, executive produced by franchise star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski, will pick up directly after the events of “John Wick: Chapter 4.” Stahelski is also set to direct the pilot episode.

Robert Levine, co-creator of “The Old Man,” will write and serve as showrunner for the new series. The storyline will introduce a mix of new and familiar characters navigating the aftermath of John Wick’s departure from the High Table’s world. The official logline teases that the series will “combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age.”

Stahelski, who has a creative oversight deal with Lionsgate for the John Wick franchise across various media, will executive produce through his company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Levine, Reeves, and Thunder Road’s Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk, who have produced the John Wick films, will also serve as executive producers.

Reeves, though not acting in the series, is reportedly very involved in the project. Lionsgate is currently shopping the series to networks and streaming platforms in what is expected to be a competitive situation.

The series follows the ambiguous conclusion of “John Wick: Chapter 4,” where John Wick, having earned his freedom alongside fellow assassin Caine (Donnie Yen), leaves the world of the High Table in disarray. The film’s ending left John’s fate uncertain, with a post-credits scene hinting at a future confrontation between Caine and Akira (Rina Sawayama).

Additionally, Lionsgate is working on a spinoff film centered on Caine and the upcoming “Ballerina” film starring Ana de Armas, set between the third and fourth John Wick movies. A fifth John Wick film is also in development, and the new series will not interfere with these plans.

Levine, whose credits include “The Old Man” and “Black Sails,” is represented by WME and TFC Management. Stahelski is represented by WME and attorney Tara Kole.
