Prime Video has released first-look images for its upcoming series “A Very Royal Scandal,” a gripping dramatization of the infamous 2019 interview between Prince Andrew and journalist Emily Maitlis. The highly anticipated series will debut on 19th September in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, exclusively on Prime Video.
Starring Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew and Ruth Wilson as Emily Maitlis, “A Very Royal Scandal,” delves into the lead-up to the groundbreaking interview, the tense hour itself, and the explosive aftermath that reverberated across the globe. The series paints a vivid picture of the power of journalism in one of the most pivotal moments in recent British history, centered around Prince Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre.
“One night. One hour. One interview that sent shockwaves around the globe,” teases the series, promising a detailed exploration of the events that shook the British monarchy to its core.
Joining Sheen and Wilson are Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, Éanna Hardwicke as Stewart Maclean, and Claire Rushbrook as Sarah Ferguson. The series is directed by Julian Jarrold and penned by Jeremy Brock, known for their work on acclaimed British dramas.
A Very Royal Scandal was produced by Blueprint Television in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, with worldwide distribution handled by Sony Pictures Television. The executive production team includes Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Jeremy Brock, Julian Jarrold, and Emily Maitlis herself, with Josh Hyams as producer.
The series is structured into three episodes:
