Adding a touch of Hollywood to political event, the 2024 Democratic National Convention will feature a star-studded lineup of hosts, including Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Ana Navarro, and Tony Goldwyn, reported exclusively by CNN. Each will serve as the master of ceremonies for one of the convention’s four nights, guiding the proceedings and offering opening remarks. The event is set to take place from 19-22 August.
Tony Goldwyn will kick off the convention on Monday, followed by Ana Navarro on Tuesday, Mindy Kaling on Wednesday, and Kerry Washington on Thursday, the final night. Thursday will also be a significant moment as Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic Presidential Nomination.
Kerry Washington, known for her role in “Scandal” and her active political involvement, has been a consistent presence at the DNC. She first participated in 2012, supporting former President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. Washington also played a key role in the 2020 convention, where she opened the third night as Joe Biden challenged then-President Donald Trump. Beyond her acting career, she founded Influence Change, an organization that mobilizes celebrities for civil activism.
Mindy Kaling, another host, has previously shared the screen with Kamala Harris on Harris’ YouTube channel in 2019. The two prepared masala dosa together and discussed their shared Indian heritage. This video resurfaced after Donald Trump posted it on his Truth Social platform, questioning Harris’ racial identity.
Ana Navarro, a well-known Republican commentator, has become a vocal critic of Donald Trump and has voted for Democratic candidates since his entry into politics. Her first Democratic vote was in 2016 when Trump ran against Hillary Clinton.
Tony Goldwyn, Washington’s “Scandal” co-star, is also no stranger to political activism. He actively supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 and has appeared at various events advocating for reproductive rights and in support of President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign before Biden’s withdrawal.
