Yash Raj Films has confirmed the third part of Mardani franchise with Rani Mukerji returning as Shivani Shivaji Roy on the big screen after a successful hit “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway” in 2023, according to Deadline exclusive report.  The announcement comes on the tenth anniversary of the original film, which marked a significant moment in Hindi cinema.

Although the plot and production details remain tightly guarded, Yash Raj released a teaser clip to celebrate the franchise’s legacy and hint at the next chapter in the gripping series. The film, currently untitled, continues to build on the success of its predecessors, both critically and commercially.

The last film in the series, Mardaani 2 (2019), was directed by Gopi Puthran and produced by Yash Raj. Mukerji’s powerful portrayal of the fearless cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy, captivated audiences as she hunted down a 21-year-old serial rapist and murderer, played by Vishal Jethwa. Mukerji’s role has been hailed as groundbreaking, solidifying her as a leading figure in Hindi action cinema.

Talks of a third Mardaani film have been circulating since 2019, but the project had remained under the radar until now. Mukerji, who has won eight Filmfare Awards, last appeared in the Netflix drama Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, where she delivered another compelling performance.

With anticipation building, fans eagerly await more details about what promises to be another intense and thrilling chapter in the Mardaani saga.
