Floriana Lima, recognised for her role in “A Million Little Things,” is joining the cast of Grey’s Anatomy for its upcoming 21st season, according to a exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter. Lima will portray Nora, a childhood friend of Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and his sister Megan (Abigail Spencer), who finds herself at Grey Sloan after a routine surgery at another hospital leads to serious complications.
Nora’s character is being described as a dedicated mother and newly divorced woman who is determined to fight for her life and be there for her children. She is set to debut in the second episode of the season, which airs on 3rd October, with the season premiere scheduled for 26th September at 10 p.m. on ABC. Episodes will also be available on Hulu the following day.
Earlier, Lima starred as Gary’s love interest on ABC’s “A Million Little Things” and appeared in Netflix’s “The Punisher” alongside Jon Bernthal, where she played Maggie Sawyer in Supergirl, one of the first openly gay characters in mainstream comics. She also had roles in the ABC thriller “The Family”. Her next project will see her starring with Zachary Levi and Josh Duhamel in the upcoming film “Not Without Hope”. Lima is represented by Gersh and Amplified Management.
As Grey’s Anatomy gears up for its 21st season, there’s plenty of buzz surrounding Meredith Grey and her future on the show. The season 20 finale saw a hopeful conclusion for Meredith and Nick after Meredith revealed her plans to settle down in Boston with Nick and her children. This development came after a potential career crisis was narrowly avoided, with Meredith’s Alzheimer’s research, conducted with her sister-in-law Amelia, still on track.
Despite stepping back from the series in recent years to focus on her upcoming Hulu project “Natalia,” Pompeo will be returning for more Grey’s in season 21. Fans can expect to see her in at least seven episodes, continuing her role as the primary narrator.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes shared a cryptic update on the future of the beloved medical drama. “When it’s going to end? I don’t know,” she said. With Meg Marinis now serving as showrunner, the series continues its reign as TV’s longest-running primetime medical drama.
