Indian actor, Imran Khan, known for hits like “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na” and “Delhi Belly,” is set to return to the silver screen after a nine-year hiatus, according to exclusive report by the PeepingMoon.com. Imran has been hinting at his comeback since last year, and now it’s official: he’s stepping back into the spotlight with a Netflix film produced by his uncle, Aamir Khan.

According to the report, Imran’s comeback will be in the form of a romantic comedy, directed by Danish Aslam, who previously helmed the 2010 hit “Break Ke Baad,” starring Imran and Deepika Padukone. While specific details remain under wraps, insiders describe the film as a lighthearted entertainer, with Imran taking on a role that recalls his earlier charm.

This untitled romcom marks Aamir Khan Productions’ first foray into the OTT space and the debut project under the leadership of their new CEO, Aparna Purohit. Aamir Khan Productions is teaming up with Open Air Films, the content house behind Netflix originals like “Leila” and “Cobalt Blue”. Shooting for the film is set to begin in the coming months.

This brings Imran back into the fold of Aamir Khan’s production house, which launched his career as a leading man in “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na” (2008), after first introducing him as a child actor in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” (1988). The duo’s collaboration also extended to the 2011 cult favorite “Delhi Belly”.

Imran’s return has been highly anticipated, especially after his previously planned web series with Abbas Tyrewala fell through. The actor was set to star in an espionage thriller series on Disney+ Hotstar, but the project was shelved due to the Disney-Reliance merger. Reflecting on the setback, Imran said he was relieved the series didn’t pan out, as he wasn’t keen on playing a character who “solves problems with a gun.”

Now, with Danish Aslam’s romcom, Imran seems to have found the perfect script to reintroduce himself to audiences. Fans are eagerly awaiting his return in the kind of charming, breezy role that first made him a household name.

Aamir Khan Productions is gearing up for an exciting slate of releases, including “Sitare Zameen Par” starring Aamir and Genelia Deshmukh, “Lahore 1947” with Sunny Deol, and “Pritam Pyare” featuring Sanjay Mishra and Neeraj Sood.
