Netflix hit “Squid Game” is facing a legal dispute after Indian filmmaker Sohum Shah accused Netflix and the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, of copyright infringement. Shah alleges that the hit Korean survival drama copied the plot of his 2009 Hindi film “Luck”. “Squid Game,” which took the world by storm with its dystopian premise of contestants playing deadly games for a massive cash prize, stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, Anupam Tripathi, and Gong Yoo. Shah claims the series mirrors the plot of “Luck,” which also revolves around high-stakes, life-threatening games where the prize money increases with each contestant’s death. According to a report by TMZ, Sohum Shah’s lawsuit claims that “Squid Game” is based on the storyline of “Luck,” a film he wrote in 2006 and released in 2009. Shah points out that “Squid Game” was written later, in 2009, and aired globally in 2021, drawing similarities between both projects’ central premise. In response to the lawsuit, Netflix has dismissed the allegations. A spokesperson for the streaming platform said, “This claim has no merit. Squid Game was created by and written by Hwang Dong Hyuk, and we intend to defend this matter vigorously.” About Author SSZee Media Provider of Quality Entertainment News and Information See author's posts Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Print (Opens in new window) Print Like this:Like Loading… Related Post navigation Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards gets suspended prison sentence over child abuse images Junior doctors in England agrees to 22% pay rise, ending 18-month dispute
