HBO has greenlit an ensemble comedy series led by Rachel Sennott, who will also write and executive produce the project. The show centers on a group of codependent friends reuniting and grappling with the changes brought by time, ambition, and new relationships. Sennott is teaming up with executive producers Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, and Lorene Scafaria, who also directed the pilot.

“Rachel is as hilarious as she is charming,” said Amy Gravitt, HBO and Max’s EVP of Comedy Programming. “With Lorene and Emma, she has captured the comedy and the beauty that happens when friendships collide with our best laid plans. We’re thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with this talented team and this exquisite cast,” added Gravitt.

Sennott is joined by a strong cast, including Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, Miles Robbins, and True Whitaker. While the series remains untitled, Sennott assured fans that a name is coming soon. “I’m so grateful to Amy and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it. And I’m going to come up with a title soon I promise!,” she said.

The show, which draws comparisons to Lena Dunham’s acclaimed HBO series Girls, was one of two comedy pilots HBO ordered last spring. A decision on the other pilot, The Chair Company by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, is expected soon. This latest move comes as HBO looks to refresh its half-hour comedy lineup after the conclusion of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Barry.

Sennott gained widespread recognition for her breakout role in the 2020 film Shiva Baby and later co-wrote and starred in the hit Prime Video comedy Bottoms.
