The CW’s popular sports drama All American is gearing up for its seventh season with significant cast changes, including the addition of four new series regulars and the return of familiar faces, according to exclusive report by Deadline.
Returning to the main cast are Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, and Bre-Z, who are set to return to their roles. Joining them are Osy Ikhile and Nathaniel McIntyre in newly created characters that will introduce fresh storylines into the mix. Besides that, Antonio J. Bell will portray Khalil, and Alexis Chikaeze will play Amina, the daughter of Preach have been promoted to series regulars.
The cast overhaul comes after the departure of Daniel Ezra, whose character Spencer James had his storyline wrapped up in the previous season. Spencer’s journey saw him make it to the NFL, win the Super Bowl, and get married, marking a fulfilling conclusion to his arc. Though Ezra has stepped back from his lead role, he will make guest appearances and direct episodes in the upcoming season. Other original cast members are also rumored to make guest spots.
According to the official Season 7 synopsis, “Season 7 is taking it back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It’s the same heart, same NFL dream, same crosstown rivalry, same messy hormones, ushered in by a new generation of LA teens, a new Beverly Coach and our OG vortex fam, who are surprised to find they’re supposed to be the responsible adults now.”
Osy Ikhile is set to play Cassius Jeremy, the new football coach at Beverly High. A family man with a no-nonsense approach to football, Coach Jeremy is determined to restore the glory days of Beverly’s football team. McIntyre’s character, Kingston “KJ” Jeremy, is a young football prodigy determined to follow in his father’s footsteps and reach the NFL.
Meanwhile, the All American spinoff series, All American: Homecoming, is nearing the end of its run. The series will conclude after three seasons, with the final episode set to air on 30th September.
Season 7 of All American was renewed for a 13-episode run earlier in June. The show remains a collaborative effort from Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and CBS Studios, with Nkechi Okoro Carroll serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jameal Turner, Mike Herro, and David Strauss.
