Pinewood Studios, the renowned British film facility, has announced the closure of its television unit following an internal review, according to Deadline exclusive report. This decision comes in response to a significant decline in commissioning for comedy and entertainment programming in the UK.

The studio currently operates three dedicated TV studios that have hosted popular shows such as “Taskmaster,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK,” and “Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars.” Pinewood has assured that bookings made for productions through 2025 will still be honored.

In an official statement, Pinewood said, “Following a review, during 2025 we are planning to close our TV department which services the light entertainment TV market. This does not affect TV shows already booked for 2024 and 2025, nor does it affect any other film or TV productions at Pinewood’s sites. We have started a consultation process with colleagues who are affected.”

The studio expressed pride in the accomplishments of its television team, said, “We are very proud of the work the TV team has delivered over the years, having hosted many major titles for the UK’s broadcasters.”

While the television unit is being phased out, Pinewood remains a key player in the film industry, having hosted high-profile productions such as the “James Bond” franchise and “Deadpool 3.”
