Ahan Shetty, son of veteran actor Sunil Shetty, is set to join the highly anticipated war film Border 2, according to reports. Sunil Shetty delivered a memorable performance as a soldier in the 1997 classic Border, where his character made the ultimate sacrifice. Now, Ahan is following father’s footstep, stepping into a similar role.
Both Sunny Deol and Ahan Shetty announced the casting news on their Instagram accounts, accompanied by a teaser video that has further fueled excitement among fans.
On October 3, the makers of Border 2 dropped a heartfelt teaser—marking the film’s third announcement. The video opens with a nostalgic glimpse of the original Border, underscored by its iconic anthem. The words “For duty, for honour” then flash on the screen, followed by the official reveal of Ahan Shetty joining the cast. The teaser concludes with Sonu Nigam’s timeless track “Sandese Aate Hain,” a powerful callback to the original.
Border 2 is being produced by JP Dutta, who directed the original, along with Nidhi Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishna Kumar. The film is helmed by director Anurag Singh, and while fans are eager for its release, they’ll have to wait—Border 2 is slated for a worldwide premiere on January 23, 2026.
The original Border, which hit theaters on June 13, 1997, remains one of the most celebrated war films in Hindi cinema. With the legacy of the original looming large, time will tell if Border 2 can live up to the iconic status of its predecessor.
