France TV Distribution is set to launch ANNWYN The Otherworld, a new sci-fi family drama from Tetra Media Fiction, at this year’s Mipcom, according to Variety exclusive report. Originally titled Anaon, the six-part series is created by screenwriter Bastien Dartois and is currently in production, with a release date slated for Q1 2025. Domestic broadcast rights have already been secured by Prime Video and France TV.
ANNWYN The Otherworld follows the story of police chief Max, played by Guillaume Labbé, who manages a small town in Brittany. Max is grappling with the complexities of a challenging investigation—dealing with the disappearance of a teenage girl and a suspected serial abuser—while also struggling with personal loss after his wife’s death. As he tries to repair his fractured relationship with his daughter Wendie, played by Capucine Malarre (Mixte), the town faces a new, supernatural threat. Several locals are found mysteriously drained of their vital energy, leading Wendie and her friends to discover that a supernatural being is behind the strange occurrences. Realizing she has the power to confront the creature, Wendie teams up with her father to protect their community from the dark force.
Directed by David Hourrègue, known for his work on Rivages, Germinal, and Skam France, the series blends family drama with supernatural intrigue. The writing team, led by Dartois, includes Sylvain Caron, Elsa Vasseur, and Marine Maugrain Legagneur.
France TV Distribution, which is handling worldwide distribution, sees strong potential for the series on the global stage. Alongside ANNWYN The Otherworld, the company is also promoting other standout titles from its fall drama lineup, including the mystery thriller Sea Shadows, the period drama George Untamed Spirit, and the event series Zorro.
The cast of the series includes Eugénie Derouand, Christiane Cohendy, and Aaliyah Lexilus. The series is not only set to be broadcast worldwide, but remake rights are also available, opening up further opportunities for adaptation.
