Zoe Saldaña, a top contender for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Oscars for her role in Jacques Audiard’s musical Emilia Pérez, is set to be honored with the prestigious American Riviera Award at the upcoming Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). The accolade will be presented during a special ceremony on Friday, 7th February, at the historic Arlington Theatre.

SBIFF’s tribute will include a career-retrospective interview, highlighting Saldaña’s achievements in cinema. The 46-year-old actress has made history by starring in four films that have grossed over $2 billion, including her latest performance in Emilia Pérez, which earned her and her co-stars, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, and Adriana Paz, the Best Actress prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

“Zoe Saldaña has a fantastic filmography worth celebrating any year, but her commanding and stouthearted performance in Emilia Pérez makes our tribute to her imperative,” said SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling.

The American Riviera Award recognizes actors who have made significant contributions to American cinema. Previous recipients include Mark Ruffalo, Brendan Fraser, Kristen Stewart, and Renée Zellweger, among other luminaries.

The 40th edition of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run from 4-15 February, 2024.
