Emmy nominee Paul Mescal will reprise his role as Stanley Kowalski in West End revival of A Streetcar Named Desire at London’s Noël Coward Theatre after a sold-out engagement at the Almeida Theatre in 2023 before the production makes its way to New York next spring.
Running in the West End from 3-22 February, Rebecca Frecknalldirected Streetcar will once again showcase Mescal alongside a largely confirmed returning cast. Following this limited London season, the production will travel to Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) for its US premiere, scheduled from 28 February to 6 April, 2025.
In an effort to make the iconic Tennessee Williams play accessible to younger audiences, 100 seats per performance are reserved at £30 for patrons aged 25 and under. These discounted seats, available across all seating levels—including the front row of the stalls—can be booked through the Delfont Mackintosh Theatres box office, with ID required for entry.
Frecknall’s production tells the powerful story of two estranged sisters reconnecting in the vibrant setting of New Orleans. Streetcar garnered high praise during its Almeida run, positioning it as one of the season’s standout theatrical events. The creative team bringing this Tennessee Williams classic to life includes set designer Madeleine Girling, costume designer Merle Hensel, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Peter Rice, and composer Angus MacRae.
With Mescal’s return to the role and an imminent New York debut, A Streetcar Named Desire promises to draw both loyal fans and new audiences for another chance to experience Williams’ legendary work.
Fans will have the chance to purchase tickets in stages, starting this Thursday, 14th November.
